Disappointing. While I feel future confrontation with China is very possible I found the writing to be oversimplified and the main characters shallow. Seems to have been written in 2004. The only believable subject in the book was a warning that intelligence hacking compromising one country's security system is currently being conducted. I never had a 'put down the book and think deeply about what I just read moment'. The weak ending bright up a vision of a 1944 alcoholic crop duster flying past superior interstellar defenses and bringing down a mothership. This book is definitely not an Orwellian 1984 read.
