This show is heartwarming and perfect. Something that is extremely annoying and unrealistic. The writers and directors tried their absolute best to make the Gilmore girls problematic and unique, but they overdid it. They seemed to have added everything someone would think a unique person would have, giving them the flaws of a white painted wall, dull, colorless and really has no imperfections. Notice how it usually has a happy ending? The girls are subtly selfish. Throughout the entire series all I've learnt is that they are picky and are "heart breakers". They have a beautiful mother/daughter bond, but the happiness makes you forget that the hardest things in life are more than just the break of relationships.
The show is also extremely discriminating. The Kim's for example. They have created a stereotype that Asians are always strict and have overdone the scenarios where Lane has to lie every time to her mother (which is not a good influence to the audience). Have you ever seen any other main cultured characters other than the Kim's or Michel? I doubt it.
The fast paced talking and quick rebuts referencing the pop culture may have been enjoyable, but it became boring after a while and stopped me from noticing the very rude comments they had. There are a lot of moments where people were unrealistically inhumane like how Emily used to treat Lorelai or when children from the high school kept asking unnecessary questions about Lorelai's teen pregnancy and instead of the mothers comforting Lorelai in the situation, they pointed it out as a mistake and described her as a bad influence to the children.
Everything is honestly very silly. Like their relationships with their boyfriends, the constant cat calling implying that the gilmore girls are perfect humans, the white washed characters. No body even talks like how sherry or most of the mothers talk in gilmore girls. The show was a painful watch, but overall its flaws are almost non-existent. So if you like to watch a perfect world with high standards, go for it.
