Just watched this movie with an all star castโฆ. This political satire movie is the one of the best Iโve seen in a while and is reminiscent of โMars Attacksโ. Director Adam McKay hits the mark on everything including politicians, television, climate change, technology, religion and the overall human vane belief that we have the capacity to control our fate. I especially enjoyed the performances of Meryl Streep as the president and her clueless chief of staff son portrayed by Jonah Hill. When you watch the movie look for not only the obvious jokes at society, but be sure to check out the more subtle overtones. For me, some of the most memorable included pictures of Richard Nixon hanging behind the president and at the same time a picture of the president hugging former president Bill Clinton on her desk. This was to assure the audience that neither party has the lock on stupidityโฆ.. I also enjoyed the portrayal of Fox News, who indicated their wasnโt much to report as the comet was hurtling towards earth and could be seen in the sky. I loved Sir Mark Rylance who plays the embodiment of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk etc. all rolled into one. In the end the movie reminds us that for all our progress, technology and advancement as a civilization it will all ultimately end at some point and there is little we can do to stop the inevitable.
