Oh gawd, Disney’s Little Mermaid was my favorite princess. I was SUPER excited when they announced a live action (although it isn’t Disney’s). To add the excitement, the trailer looked convincing as well. However...the whole movie was a big disappointment for me. Everything seemed rushed, I couldn’t feel the character development at all. *SPOILER ALERT* It was a bit funny when the fortune teller(?) girl suddenly approached Cam, saying “stay away from that girl (Elizabeth)”. Like— excuse me?? Where did you come from ajsdsgajawsd. And yeah, the werewolf(?) guy, too. Who are you and where did you come from????!? It got worse from the time they were doing their escape run. • Suddenly Elizabeth wore clothes?? • Oh hello mr werewolf, where did you come from again?? • The elephant scene is 100% unnecessary • Auntie came to the rescue! Oh but how did she end up there anyways? • It was too obvious that they were driving the car in front of the green backdrop, not in the woods • The 1st battle of fortune teller girl and Locke was unnecessary. Why didn’t Locke just teleport to Elizabeth et al RIGHT AWAY, if he eventually did it???? • Oh, hello again mr werewolf • The mermaid tail looked 100% like a piece of clothing here. Like— legit obvious. • Locke was dead after falling into the shore??!?? That ALMIGHTY WIZARD??? And anyways how could he die to that?? Was he not originally from the ocean?!? (Was he actually dead, tho??) • Elizabeth is free. However, Elle got atshma attack again. Worry not, let’s just drown her for a while; but sorry the magic can’t be seen, and ta-da!! Elle is cured. • But well, I’m glad they eventually saved the Elizabeth. Uh wait, why didn’t Cam and Elizabeth just kiss or do whatever to declare their love during the time freeze???? Idk if it would save everything at once, but at least it would make everything easier!!!!! • I still don’t get what having a heart of a mermaid means till the end of the movie. I’m so sorry but I haven’t been this disappointed to a movie in my whole life. Keeping the mainstream and simple plot is actually better than giving some ‘creative’ touch but ended up cluttering the stories everywhere. And I wish they at least tried with the visuals.
