This book got me thinking about some of the people I know and how each of them has a unique story. It also made me wonder how their behaviour/ personality had been formed by events.. Strout's gift is to catch and enmesh you in the everyday lives of seemingly ordinary people and to make you want to find out what's going to happen: not in the sense of a thriller but just because she makes you care, as she does.
