The series works best when it's just about the jackal doing his thing. The side plots, and their attempts to 'humanise' the jackal only detract and are frankly tedious. Fans of the original film will find this series dull and full of typical genre cliches. Eddie Redmayne is actually quite good in the role, and Lashana Lynch is a solid choice - though it feels unbelievable she could match a world class assassin in the field. But all in all this feels like a wasted opportunity, as when it works it works well - it just wastes a lot of time and talent on pointless filler.
