Very impressive animation with a story that puts you straight into the action. I was pleasantly surprised to see Hera play such a pivotal role in the story, a goddess that is often overlooked in other adaptations. However, a major flaw in the series is how mundane the lead character Heron is. Despite given a relatively interesting background this character is mono-tonal and the lack of dimensions in this character makes him hard to root for. It was particularly disappointing as I followed from Castlevania (Produced by the same studio) where each characterโs traits and desires are well fleshed out. The depiction of female characters in this story left a sour taste in my mouth, with Hera painted as some crazed jealous women despite being repeated betrayed by Zeus. Alexa being the only other real female character, however we get more depth of character from the 2 male prisoners only present in half of the story. It was a missed opportunity to show some of the powerful women in Greek mythology (Athene, Aphrodite etc.) However, the strong action sequences does add some enjoyment to the series. The series had such a potential to become something great, which the concept of Greek mythology anime being so appealing. But one dimensional characters and the predictable story line detracted from the whole experience. 3/5
