It's simply a dull story about family drama; some of the characters are slightly interesting but the story never does anything with these characters. It's simply a neverending dialogue and filler with next to nothing truly interesting happening until the end. Even then, the conclusion feels like a generic ending to an overall lame story. I will say however, Eugene's character as an abusive and religious father is truly fleshed out, and I particularly love the ironic allusion to Jesus on page 90-91. Overall however, the book is simply not my cup of tea.
