I've had doubts since I grew up with the original series as a kid but this I think is a solid a remake. It's at least this show respects the source material and pronouces the characters names correctly unlike the abomination that was the 2010 film adaption.
The performances from the main cast was spot on, but Gordon Cormier, Dallas Liu, Ian Ousley, and Daniel Dae Kim were the favorites for me. Cormier and Liu were perfect choices for Aang and Zuko and I loved how the show developed their characters. Ousley was so likeable as Sokka that he made the character his own and more than just comedic relief. Finally, Dae Kim was just so good at being intimidating and menacing as Ozai and in my opinion even better than Mark Hamill's original take.
The visuals and action scenes also looked it almost looked like I was watching a movie. From the martial art like fighting mixed in with the bending was impressive. Finally, the CGI models for the animal/creatures were stunning espiecally for Appa, Momo, Nila the Sheershoe, Wa Shi Tong, and Koh the Face-Stealer.
