Produced by Rick Rubin who nails the Young's guitar sound and Phil Rudds drums perfectly Brian Johnsons vocals are drier and perfect for the material on offer here all in all a great sounding album.The songs, for the most part find the band in top form the tempos are slightly slower which makes the guitars sound even bigger and Angus Young's concise soloing works a treat.Standout cuts Burning Alive ,Whiskey on the Rocks,Hard as a Rock and the Furor make this one of the bands best albums a slow burner for sure but all the better for it.

Competing with the likes of the Quo, Blue for you ,and the mighty Quo live albums was never going to be an easy task but 'If you can't stand the heat' is not the dud many claim it to be.Opening cut 'Again and Again' sets the mood followed by the excellent Rossi Frost 'lm giving up my Worrying' the blistering boogie of the earlier albums giving way to a more produced lighter approach 'Long legged Linda' and 'Oh what a night' while retaining Quo's signature sound have more of a Transatlantic feel .Other tracks of note include 'Accident Prone 'and Alan Lancaster's Stones .This album is a late seventies gem and comes highly recommended not just for Quo fans but for anyone interested in 1970s rock music.

I had this on cd when it was released and was not impressed at all .I recently acquired a new copy on vinyl and gave it another chance and although this may not be the best album by Lemmy and co it's certainly not the dud I remembered.First off the artwork looked superb in the larger LP format and the sound was great.Things kick off with Love for sale a good solid Motorhead rocker other notable tracks on side one are the rockabilly metal of the title track and the cool Assassin.Side two is slightly weaker but still has its moments Ballad Dead and Gone and Don't lie to me being obvious high points .A good if not great Motorhead album but it still kicks some solid ass and is well worth getting hold off if you have nt already.

The last studio album from the Grateful Dead finds the band full of positive vibes a tight production and some engaging material.Foolish Heart kicks things off on a high followed by Brent Mydlands Just a little light with his excellent keyboards and vocals next up is Bobby Weirs darker Victim or the Crime which came into its own on subsequent live performances. Other tracks of note include the superb Garcia ballads Standing on the moon and title track Built to last.All in all this is a great album it's not perfect but well worth tracking down and adding to your collection.

Recorded in 1985 this was the second album released by WASP. The production is typically of its time but despite this the sound is sharp and concise with great vocals from Blackie Lawless in my view this album is definitely a high point for the band.The standout tracks Wild Child ,Blind in Texas and the Last Command are great examples of 80s heavy metal but to be honest there is very little filler here and the standard is kept high throughout.A great album not only for fans of the band but for anyone interested in hard rock and heavy metal music.

This double LP consists of a live album recorded at Mother's Birmingham and a studio album with each member of the group recording there own individual tracks .The live album is classic early Floyd without the recently departed Syd Barrett,Astronomy Domine and Set the Controls are the standout tracks.The studio set is a brave concept but won t be for everybody but all in all this is essential Pink Floyd and i rate this lp highly.To make the most of the music go for the harvest vinyl with the lovely gatefold sleeve the back photo of the bands van and equipment on a WW 2 airfield is superb.

I remember this LP from when I was a boy back in the seventies as well as the classic songs the artwork is pretty cool as well.If you are interested in the Who s music this is a must have preferably on the original vinyl as for some reason records like this one never work so good on cd.The songs The Kids are alright,Boris the spider ,My Generation and many more are all classic Who recordings pre dating The Who s next album .A really great lp worth adding to any record collection.

Following the classic double live Strangers in the night was never going to be an easy task but with new guitarist Paul Chapman in tow the band give it a great shot.The first track proper Letting go is classic UFO and the whole album has a slick and positive vibe to it.This album certainly should be condsiderd part of the classic UFO era and aside from the slight mistep of covering rockabilly classic Mystery Train the general production and performances are all top drawer.An often overlooked album from rocks golden era.

This is a solid album well played, great vocals with a good variety of songs a Brian Blessed spoken word intro and cool artwork .After so many albums it would be impossible for some of the melodies and themes not to sound similar to past glories but that is only a small criticism.l remember seeing Saxon on the Bomber tour back in the day and bought there first LP the next day and i have followed the band ever since .Saxon have recorded alot of great albums and kept the standard flying for British Heavy Metal over the years Hellfire and Damnation is another fine release worthy of your attention.

I love Rod Stewart's classic era but sadly that was many years ago , his wonderful version of Tom Waits Downtown Train being one his last great performances.Lets be honest Rod Stewart fine singer and interpreter of songs that he is just does not suit this style at all.Jools Holland and Rod may have enjoyed the process of recording these songs but the result is frankly embarrassing and the fact that this album may be on course to top the charts is more to do with the state of the current music industry than the merit of the music offered here truly awful.
