An HONEST review… Growing up listening to JLO I always felt like I was treading between being absolutely mesmerized by her beauty, and completely baffled that she’s made it this far… There’s soooo many artist that are beyond talented, but have never quite made it like JLO. I suppose she just has that star quality … that X factor. That few possess… For the most part I feel like everyone is polite in saying that she’s talented. BUT the honest truth is that her talent is just adequate…her work ethic on the other hand is stellar!!! There used to be a certain FLAVOUR to JLO…A certain NYC flare. Latin pop princess, with urban cool and soulful untones…packaged beautifully by top music execs no doubt. I quite enjoyed “on the 6”, “J.LO” & “this is me then”… well produced, packaged and marketed. Jlo really captured her audience back then…she was a 1 of 1. To date we’ve never seen another Latin American artist quite like her. She made every girl wanna be her and every guy wanna be with her. I dunno… as time has passed and as she’s gained more autonomy and agency over her music, it feels like JLO’s talent is being beautiful and her reminding us of this fact. “This is me now” is an ode to herself and the delusion that her “love story” is one for the ages… when in actual fact true love does not need embellishment and attention. It just simply IS.
