My rating is based off how pleased I was after watching it. And I watched it twice. For the "cinephiles" out there who are shocked by high reviews; I believe it is due to fantasy and being able to accept it for what it is, not what it should be.
There was a review or 2 that said they were just handing Academy Awards out to the whole cast just to affirm a diversity agenda and that no one did anything to earn one. They also said Michelle Yeoh hasn't done anything since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and that's not true so I know their research was non-existent. Star Trek: Discovery, Crazy rich Asians, ShangChi just to name a few. And the husband Waymond (Ke Huy Quan) is from the Goonies and my fav Indiana Jones film. He has a comedic charm that reminded me of his roles in those movies too. The cast is strong is my point.
I like fantasy as well so maybe that's why I approve. I was confused on the butt stuff ๐ ๐ but I equated it to how there's always a man butt in an American comedy. Idk if the movie is American made or not but it was paying homage to how Asian films were made over the years so maybe the butt stuff was something akin to that. ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ. It could've just been 2 guys thinking that was funny ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ.
It has action, a loving message of a mother never giving up on her daughter no matter what, and how she should be grateful for her choices in her life even after being in the multiverse.... at least that's how I took it. Try it you might like it ๐
