One of my favorite Greg Kinnear roles. Also nice to see Mitch Pileggi outside of the X-Files. It is a critical look at the USA's corporate comprimising of
individual innovation and invention. And all the individuals are flawed - including the self absorbed inventor ( who nearly kills his family in the first five minutes playing w the wipers while driving).Too few movies like these are made - you can go out and talk about a film like this one at length after you've seen it.
I would have liked the court scenes to have a little more of the actual case - how Ford argued the patents were both expired and not authentic because no new technologically was created by Kearns ( there was no proof Ford took his invention - just that they infringed on his patented technology). Also the end misses tbe beauty of the invention - he took old, basic, well understood technology to solve a problem; instead of trying to use the latest, most sophisticated circuitry and gadgetry. But overall an original, well paced, thoughtful film on ideal America vs real America.
