This was a terrific read, the action was intense and had me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. Being white, it’s tough to read about racism and how terribly the black people have been treated and are still being treated. This book is not for the faint of heart and it delivers a strong message about systemic racism in Mississippi. I’m ashamed of how people treat other people due to a different skin color. Penn Cage sounds a lot like Greg Iles with the maladies he’s suffered and I’m glad he’s still among us. Thanks Greg Iles for an exceptional book.
