No spoilers included! After years of hearing about this movie only for the terrible accents, I sat down and watched it. It was a freezing cold fall day, and I was feeling the need to curl up with a cheesy movie. As a fan of Ron Howard’s Willow, I figured maybe Far and Away would have some similarly beautiful scenery and cheesy sentimentalism. By the first 10 minutes or so I’d gotten over the questionable accents, and found myself surprisingly drawn in to the characters and story. The score is gorgeous, the scenery is breathtaking, the cinematography is wonderful, and the romance was far beyond anything I’d anticipated. This romance is similar to Jack and Rose from Titanic, years before that movie was released and, honestly (and I can’t believe I’m about to say this)… done better. Yes, I said it. I loved seeing two fully-realized characters grow to truly love and respect one another over a long period of time. The romantic tension was always felt and portrayed with extreme tenderness, and when romance actually begins to blossom - it feels earned and it feels real. It feels like a journey and the viewer is allowed to witness and become invested in it. Both characters are well-established and allowed to grow and change throughout the story. The things they go through are genuinely entertaining and I was never once bored or checking the runtime. Also, this movie is FUNNY. There were a couple instances that I actually paused the movie, because a joke made me laugh out loud and I had to take a moment to think “I can’t believe how low my expectations were, how little love this movie gets, and how much I’m loving it right now.” This movie is an epic. The entire last portion of the movie, which involves a race for land, was so well done and such an absolute pleasure to watch. And although I mentioned it before I’ll mention it again - John Williams created a score worth purchasing all on its own. His work elevates each scene and the land race is a perfect example. The set and costume design was amazing, and it was such an epic way to end the story. This is a comfort movie. I picked the perfect day to watch it, and I anticipate picking it out for many comfort days in the future. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie - allow yourself to get over the accents and you’ll find yourself swept away.

The villain was VERY obvious (I called it from the character’s first line of dialogue) but the journey is certainly fun to watch. Not as great as the first, but a very worthy sequel. Really enjoyed it!

The first two episodes were hit-and-miss. Ewan McGregor absolutely radiates in this role, and he and Hayden/Vader own this show completely. It’s at its best when the focus is on the established characters that we all know and love, the characters we’re here to see. Vader. Watch it for Vader, if nothing else. This is Vader at his absolute best, seriously some of the best Vader moments we’ve ever seen in all of Star Wars history. Hayden and James Earl Jones are both back, and it is glorious. So well done. I felt genuine fear of Vader for the first time ever... seriously, he has scenes that would fit perfectly into a horror movie. The show is at its weakest when it comes to new characters, namely Reva. The first two episodes give her too much focus, and she is an unlikable character. I eventually realized that she reminds me of a young Anakin. By episode 3 there is less focus given to her, and she actually becomes a better character for it. There’s also some issues with the chase scenes and the editing. The editing can become convoluted and confusing at times, and there are some chase scenes with a very young character that are cheesy and silly. By episode 3 I was able to just embrace the cheese - this is Star Wars, after all. The The show is overall doing a wonderful job of adding meaning to the time between the original and prequel trilogies, and making A New Hope somehow better than it already was. I’ve really been impressed by how they’ve respected both the originals and the prequels, and there are lots of callbacks that are fun to watch for. At the same time it feels like it’s own thing, as in it doesn’t depend on nostalgia and feels like it’s own full story that deserved to be told. I cannot stress enough how good Ewan McGregor is here. His Obi-Wan is a haunted shell of his former self, struggling with PTSD and completely removed from the force. He’s playing his part so well that it elevates the show as a whole. As someone who was a child when the prequels came out, I am so pleased with this show. It took a few episodes for me to get there, and there are still some things I don’t love, but it’s quickly grown on me and I will certainly be adding this show to my physical disc collection so that I can rewatch it for a long, long time.

It’s everything I wanted it to be. I will never forget the feeling of sitting in the theater watching the 2017 version. The sinking feeling was horrible - the realization that Joss Whedon had ruined the DC that I loved. I should preface this by saying that I have always loved Man of Steel, and the same goes for the directors cut of BvS. Zack Snyder’s style, vision, and themes have always been a favorite of mine. When I heard that Snyder’s daughter (rest in peace) had died, and then Warner was continuing the project without him - I was crushed. I just knew they were going to use the opportunity to push him out. They proved me right, and I’ve been bitter about it ever since. When the Snyder release was first announced, I couldn’t believe it. I’ve been eagerly waiting, excited to see Snyder’s vision realized. This movie is everything you could want from a Snyder movie. It is his style in every way, so if you’re anti-Snyder... probably just sit this one out. The directing, cinematography, fight scenes, everything is stylized. The fight scenes are fast-paced, the music epic, and every scene looks like a painting. It’s gorgeous. Batman is Batman in this movie. He’s so unbelievably badass, and I cheered out loud during some of his fight scenes. Cyborg actually has a storyline, and it WORKS. His character is different entirely. Flash is also taken down a notch, and he fits into the group much better this time around. There’s no awkward, out-of-place Marvel jokes to be found. The few jokes are truly funny and don’t take away from the rest of the movie. There’s no Flash landing on Diana’s chest - thank the good lord. The character and story buildup is extensive, and I love that Snyder took his time with it. This movie also completes Clark Kent’s arc. The buildup has always been there, and I’ve seen it since Man of Steel. I can understand why many people couldn’t see it, but Snyder wanted to build up Superman. He doesn’t start in greatness, he was raised as a human. This movie completes his transformation into Superman, yet keeps him human. If you didn’t enjoy Whedon’s trainwreck, give this version a shot. Unless you hate all things Snyder. This is an indulgent, slow-mo filled superhero epic. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Most movies aren’t. But take a day to watch the whole thing. Get into a pair of cozy sweats, grab a glass of whiskey (or your drink of choice), and be patient. The buildup makes the payoff so so so fantastic. Thank you, Zack. Thanks for taking the time to create this. I will be purchasing it on blu ray, and will buy a collectible version if it happens. I love this movie!!!!!

Disappointed. I was fairly excited for this movie, as a big Cavill fan. Within the first 5 minutes, however, I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes. I thought I was sitting down to watch a movie, not an advertisement for feminism. As a 24 year old woman, I’m not sure why filmmakers seem to think that I need feminism. I don’t need people cheering me on and coddling me because I’m a female. I know I can be successful in life as a woman - and I don’t need politicians, or FILMMAKERS, to shove it in my face. I watched the movie, and it had good elements. Cinematography, score, and acting were all good. The story was nothing special, and the focus on feminism just ruined the entire thing. I have politics shoved in my face all the time, sometimes I just want to watch a movie that’s not steeped in political agenda.

I lost interest in Marvel after Guardians of the Galaxy, in 2014. Just no interest in any of their releases, as they were already becoming repetitive and woke. I decided to watch this show, out of some type of morbid curiosity. Not only did it prove that my disinterest towards everything Marvel was justified, but it renewed my disinterest for the foreseeable future.

Favorite movie of the year, easily. Joaquin is the best actor working today. Deserves every award nomination that it's received, and Joaquin deserves the Oscar. Do yourself a favor and watch this film!
