"The twits" is a gruesome tale of two ugly as well as dirty couples,MR and MRS Twits. The tale is anย epitome of insensitivity, foolishness, and opportunism. but it teaches us to exhibit compassionย .The character of Mr Twit isย a man who has hair all over his face where food gets clinged to his facial hairs,He never washes his hair properly. Mrs Twit was not indifferent to Mr Twit.Mr and Mrs Twit shared a bitter- sweet bond with each other. They always plotted something against one another. Once Mrs Twirย dropped her glass eye into Mr Twit's mug of beer. To take revenge, Mr Twit decided to put a frog in Mrs Twit's bed. Though the story is humorous,Roald Dahl shares a beautiful message to the children through this book. He says :
โIf a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it.
A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.โย ย
The book portraysย the wonderfulย endless journey of Mr and Mrs Twit where they try to pull each other down. Though theย story is short,ย Roald Dahl'sย wittiness as well as simplicity madeย the story wonderful. The illustrations of this book by Quentin Blake are remarkable as usual. To enjoy Roald Dahl's surprising mix of humour, adventure and mystery ,one should read this children's book "The Twits" from adults point of view.
