Tried very hard to make it look like its 1989 but story line, dialogues and references blows it. its far from real.its even far from fantasy world.
Story loses its strength in first 10 minutes where a girl is shown standing in his bf's house waiting for him to drop him, who did that in 1989, who even does it in small cities.
