Ignore the history. It is not a documentary and not intended to teach history to you. It entertains with a deadpan Napoleon who eats a lot, likes to wear his uniform, especially his hat, and is no hero in the bedroom. I enjoyed it as a low-key satire of heroism and French culture. The horses do good work acting their roles in some difficult battle scenes. Josephine is sad but she can barely suppress her laughter (or contempt) hor the "little corporal" driven by his "destiny" even during his preferred approach to loving her.
