As a long time Star Wars fan, I was excited to see another spin off. The Obi Wan series and Ahsoka series were fantastic, and I would love to see more of them. Andor was good, but a bit slow. I felt like its purpose was to give a feel for more day to day life in the Star Wars universe, and I could appreciate that too. The Mandalorian was very well done and highly entertaining, even if it was a bit different from traditional Star Wars content.
I went in really wanting to like The Acolyte. I just finished the last episode, and it just left so many plot holes and questions. The ending felt half-hearted and disappointing. It feels like Disney just threw something together, slapped the Star Wars logo on it, and hoped it would sell.
I wasnโt going to leave a review until I saw a suspicious number of AI-sounding 5-star reviews.
Spoilers ahead:
I feel like they did Sol so dirty. I feel like the goal was to show that the sith aren't so bad and the Jedi are corrupt, which goes against everything in Star Wars. It also contradicts the movies so much. If Yoda knew about all of this, then why was he surprised the sith returned in the movies? Are we supposed to believe Yoda condoned all of this and perpetuated the lie? Thatโs not on brand for Yoda or Star Wars. I just really donโt get what the point was in any of this and how all the plot holes were allowed. Also, what were the girls in danger of? I still never figured that out. I guess their mother was going to try to possess someone and take Mae with her? But then she said she was going to let Osha go, and she was also apparently trying to stop the violence? I donโt get it.
