This is a brilliant novel and one of a kind amongst all the novels written by Vargas Llosa. The genesis of this book takes place inside a strange painting exhibited in an art gallery in Italy. One of the characters in that painting takes us to the deepest Amazon Rain Forest and a story of struggle for survival of its people and their culture.It's also a story of the radical transformation of a man. A perfectly rounded up story from beginning to end. Probably one of the most underrated novels from this author. I wish some talented movie director dares soon to take it to the big screen, but is there one talented enough for this task?
