THE BEATLES, by The Beatles, may not be the absolute greatest album by the band, but it most certainly IS the greatest album in, as the saying goes, the history of rock n' roll, and the greatest album in the modern age of music, from, say, the turn of the 20th Century, to the present day (not that there is any MUSIC in the present day, see "Lizzo" or "Taylor Swift"). As is true of Sgt Pepper, Revolver, and for that matter, THE BEATLES SECOND ALBUM, advanced courses of study could be taught on the sheer weight of the spectacular grandiosity of this music. And the White Album surpasses that. Transcends that. INCLUDING avant garde. Yes, I realize that when I say this album is all-time number one, I am saying it's better than Blonde On Blonde, better than Dark Side of the Moon, better than Pet Sounds, and better than Velvet Underground and Nico. I think I would have to detach myself somehow from the time space continuum to get into a track by track analysis of this work. So I will just say this: put on a great set of headphones (headphones, not earbuds), put on a cd or lp of The White Album (not some downloaded version), and listen to Mc Cartney's vocals loud on the opening lines of "Honey Pie". This album is music. MUSIC. And this album is THE BEATLES.
