This game is great. Not just good, but great. That isn't to say that after playing through and thoroughly enjoying it you won't find some small issues that ultimately won't scratch your experience.
This is a game that will conform to alot of third-person game tropes but at the same time will set it's own conceptual trends. For example the combat, with great sound effects and satisfying impact, will also behave as you expect (in a good way) in terms of progression, enemy types, enemy difficulties etc. But then, on the other side of this, you've got the navigation system. Most games now have you conditioned to look for an on-screen marker, whereas in control you have to take what the game gives you and navigate that way - in other words, you have to look at what the mission describes and actively use the map overlay to find where you need to go. This isn't a chore once you understand it; but you might be surprised if you were expecting something else.
In summary, I loved this game and I loved learning how it worked. I've seen some lukewarm reviews and mainly they refer to what could have been altered to make it perfect for them - and I only have this to say about that: this game is as close to perfect as I would expect any game to be. Enjoy.
Edit: reading through the reviews, I would recommend doing the same. Even those who apparently 'hated it' gave it 3 stars ๐ so actually they loved it, but played it wrong (but still played it ๐)
