A movie that has very mixed animation, awful editing, great humor, decent enough voice acting, though the english dub is badly synced, really good cinematography especially during later action scenes, and a twist at the end that is frankly completely out of right field and has no business existing. The ultimate message of the film is... Interesting... You'd be right to agree with the sentiment but it more comes across as an incel rallying cry which thematically absolutely does not fit in with the entirety of the film despite how you personally may feel. Great leap forward for CGI anime films but it's definitely not up with animation greats like Shrek, Megamind, Toy Story, or Coco. It's closer to a Good Dinosaur, Peabody and Sherman, or one of those old Don Bluth movies. There's definitely an audience for this film, but it's definitely not blowing anyone a way or full of unique surprises. If you genuinely have to kill a friday night or really like Dragon Quest go ahead and watch it, if not move along.
