It has absolutely nothing to do with the homonymous tale he wrote; the modern setting is horrendous, and the attempt to include themes of other tales of the author failed miserably, turning the whole thing into an incoherent disaster, for instance, The Masque of the Red Death.
Quit butchering good stories with your feeble attempt at creativity and innovation and your agenda; you're failing miserably at it.
