I had high hopes for Sarzameen, but unfortunately, it left me more confused than moved. The story attempts to tackle big themes like patriotism, family bonds, and betrayal, but it does so with twists that feel forced and unconvincing.
One of the most jarring moments is when a child ends up hitting his own father โ a scene that felt emotionally off and hard to digest. The sudden reveal of the mother as a terrorist comes out of nowhere, with little context or buildup. And perhaps most baffling of all, a father failing to recognize his own son after just eight years felt implausible and emotionally disconnected.
Itโs clear the film wanted to stir deep emotions, but instead, it leans too heavily on dramatic clichรฉs and illogical plot turns. There are some well-intentioned moments, but they get lost in the chaos.
Sarzameen had potential, but it ends up being yet another example of style over substance.
