I wanted to love this movie, but it was boring. Just really boring. While I think Nic Cage's acting was one of the few saving graces at the end of the day it's another forgettable action movie involving a kidnapped daughter. Overall it's just nothing new, very predictable, boring and includes all of the overused action movie tropes from the last 30+ years. In addition the film has so many continuity issues with a few characters seemingly written off midway through with no explanation or closure on what happened.

I absolutely hated this movie. It's nothing more than a bunch of "you had to be there" stories that are haphazardly thrown together. Terrible storyline involving an illegal relationship filled with a bunch of distracting subplots that ultimately are never again referenced nor add anything to the story. Uninteresting, uninspired, and unlikable characters that seem to exist for the sake of a false sense of nostalgia. Absolutely boring, dull, and not even worth watching on a plane. STAY AWAY"

I actually found this movie to be pretty entertaining and actually had a decently good time with this one. I watched this film on a flight back home from Canada and it genuinely made my in flight experience more pleasant. While the first movie was nothing more than a cynical cash grab saved by a few funny Jim Carrey moments, I actually felt this installation greatly improved every single aspect of the first film. The interactions between Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were quite good and I really enjoyed seeing the character progression of Knuckles throughout the film. While some of the plot twists were seemingly dumb it also didn't really take away from the film as a whole. I found the humor of this film to be quite what you'd expect from a children's film with a few in jokes for adults; not really laugh out loud funny but some good chuckles and clever wordplay. The film did take a weird turn during the wedding scene, however it was pretty funny and ultimately didn't drag on super long. Overall a decently good family film with a few old memes baked in and a good way to pass some time if you don't want to think too much.
