Aside from a few glitches (that may have been a fluke), and a senseless swimming mechanic, Days Gone has proven to be a very entertaining game. The issue lies in the fact that it borrows from various sources, but doesn't quite nail the mechanics like those inspirations. After a couple hours I felt like I was playing a combination of Red Dead and The Last of Us, both phenomenal games, that provide a high standard to live up to. Not to mention that the setting and enemies makes you feel like you are playing a season of The Walking Dead.
With that being said, despite all that familiarity with other source material, Days Gone still manages to have it's own great story and still manages to seperate itself as it's own individual property. The gun mechanics get better as you r character and equipment improve, stealth is highly important for survival. And building relationships with camps is both effective towards the story and your survival in the world. My favorite part so far is the cult that you encounter that will torture the living, but will not kill the 'freakers' you encounter, which can be used to hilarious effect with the toss of a rock.
