As usual, some poor reviews because it wasn't spelled out clearly enough, and didn't have enough explosions. A wonderful slow burn of a film with nuanced characters that captures the soulless world of corporate consultancy and positions it against the very human lives of the people in a cut throat industry. The ramifications of building a life on this shaky ground - backstabbing, lies and personal espionage seemingly par for the course - unfurl throughout, leaving us wondering where and if our protagonist will find solid footing. An enjoyable and worthy watch.

A phenomenal piece of work. Faulkner plays with different narrative styles and develops rich and complex characters with strong, individual voices. He captures the anxieties and brutalities of a generation of young men who are losing their place in the world but are unable or unwilling to prevent their own demise. The opening chapter, which has been described as and appears to be stream of consciousness, can only be truly understood by finishing the rest of the novel. You do not need google to decipher it, just patience and a decent memory (or the willingness to read the chapter once more).
