An absolutely horrific abomination of Tolkienโs works, splicing his words and misrepresenting the history of middle earth in an unforgivable way. I canโt believe theyโve done this.
They make Gil-Galad out completely differently than he was, misrepresent Morgothโs BANISHMENT, absolutely ignore the lore behind Galadrielโs hair, and the fact she played no significant role in the war of the jewels, and seem to have forgotten about Celeborn? I am aware of her banishment mentioned in Tolkienโs letters as well, but that arc is being entirely misrepresented as well.
Elrond is well, awkwardโฆ and so on.
As hot history of the Hobbits? Well, Tolkien himself said in a letter there is none. And to complete the quote people also misrepresent
โI would draw some of the great tales in fullness, and leave many only placed in the scheme, and sketched. The cycles should be linked to a majestic whole, and yet leave scope for other minds and hands, wielding paint and music and drama. Absurd.โ
He didnโt want people creating a weird culture for them. And the agenda being pushed constantly about breaking the rules and such just arenโt Tolkien-esk. Itโs like they made sure none of the actors were familiar with the loreโฆ
& whatโs with the poorly done Irish accents they gave hobbits, and the weird accent they gave the elves?
And donโt get me started on the cheap LED light in the dwarf guards helmet that Marches Elrond down the hall, and cheap humor of what would have been a far more significant event.
Overall itโs just weird. It feels like a wanna be Game of Thrones meets Chronicles of Narnia done with all the majesty of the Wheel of Time show.
They cut the hair of all the male elves and tried to make them all seem incompetent, and the ladies are portrayed poorly as well, of all races. It seems like a reverse agenda pushing nightmare that plans to fix it by breaking all the walls down later which is just in poor taste.
