Disappointing. The movie aimed to portray a childhood trauma and the resulting depression, but instead, it mostly highlighted the selfishness of a protagonist who had love and support yet seemed to take it for granted. The depiction of her childhood experience lacked depth, making it hard to empathize with her struggles. Throughout the film, I kept searching for a justification for her deep depression and her neglect of a loving husband, but none felt convincing. While the tragic ending was predictable, Amanda Seyfried did an admirable job conveying the character's frustration. Generously, Iโd give it three stars.
