I’ve seen this film many times. Its lesson is relevant even after all these years. In the midst of a seemingly idyllic place, evil can lurk. We must remain vigilant and we must remember the basic values and laws upon which our country is based. The acting is excellent, especially Edward G Robinson as the Nazi hunter.I imagine he realized the importance of his role. This is a movie whose value will be worth seeing as long as film is an important art promoting social justice.

This film is riveting. I toured the cemeteries and WW1 sites in Belgium, where reminders still exist. Americans entered the war late so we don’t have the memory of WW1 as we have for the Second World War. However, an understanding of The Great War is necessary to understand the origins of WW2. The Great War created so many changes in warfare, and culture at home, that this film is essential viewing.
