An underrated film because it was overshadowed by another MMFF entry. I personally think this is a better film than the box office top grosser because of its very relatable premise. No miracles, death, coming back to life....just an honest depiction of the range of emotions a mother and child go through amid changing life circumstances and the emptiness a mother feels after realizing her task of raising a child is over. The script was engaging and Sharon and Alden acted so naturally it's hard not to believe they are family. I like how the film puts a value on a woman's self-worth, which can bring more fulfillment than getting a second chance at love. Expect to cry if you love your mom.
