Although I thought the author was trying to critique the "dark academia" aesthetic, this book also romanticized a way of life that is unrealistic, yet awe inspiring. The book was beautifully written, though I feel it was extremely pretentious to a degree that superseded the meaning of the story. The main character was extremely passive which was both boring and helpful throughout the book. The middle of the book was very slow. Even at the end, I don't feel like the main character had any character development. Still, it was a pretty good book and had a certain feeling to it I enjoyed.
