Now, this movie was given higher stars from me than I would have given it because I’m biased a bit over the original movie because I remember bringing the DVD home the day it was released on DVD. But, I think this movie compared to the original was not that great. We got to the plot to quickly and had some elements that either didn’t make sense or the story wouldn’t have been effected in any way if it didn’t happen or was altered. Like with the giant clam island thing, it’s really unnecessary. This seems like a repeat of Frozen 2 in which the first movie was an original idea and the sequel is horrible with songs that try to replace the original. Let it go in Frozen 2 was Into the unknown. In Moana 2, they tried to replace How Far I’ll go with What could be better than this. The same goes for them trying to replace You’re welcome with Can I get a Chee Hoo. The references to the original were probably the best part of the movie. But the story plot from Frozen 2 was recycled into this movie. Both have the same plot of 2 main characters plus some additional people having to leave home on another mission to find more people or another civilization which results in someone almost dying. But I really hated the stupid part with the clam. It just didn’t make any sense. The snot demon things were really weird too. I just don’t see this as something I would have to watch again. There was also the “deaths.” Someone had to die or get injured and magically heal every 5 minutes. Maui almost died, Moana almost died twice, the weird gay fanfic guy almost died by the water serpent creature. All in all, I wasn’t a huge fan and will stick with the original movie.
