This is a wonderful story within a play within a film. It's really a love note to actors who love Wes Anderson, in my opinion. Maybe it's not for general move audiences..but I think it's great that he got an all-star blockbuster cast to do a film that's not necessarily meant to please EVERYONE.
It's quirky, hilarious, and it talks specifically about the art of acting. I loved how they got into the specifics of how one would act out being asleep onstage in a realistic manner. And the scene in the scene study class towards the end was gold! The way the one student popped up during the sleep exercise and just started sleep walking was hilarious.
I also loved how they talked about actors picking "business" onstage. It was just so fun for me to hear all of this talked about by some of my acting idols! Cause they don't usually talk about this stuff in press junkets since it's not stuff the general public can necessarily relate to, unless they're being interviewed on Inside the Actors Studio.
Plus, it was visually stunning, as usual. And the animation of the alien was beautifully done in a way that didn't feel cheesy.
