Very, very far below his best . His powers have been declining for a while but his last 2 books make you yearn for peak King .
This group of short stories are tired retreads of many of his earlier stories , short on shocks, twists or originality .
That, and his seeming pathological need to crowbar his Covid narrative into every tale at the earliest opportunity. It clunks like 30 year old Chevvy, distracts from the story and makes you want to either put it down or move to the next story in the forlorn hope of something better .
An author whose glory days are rapidly receding in the rear view mirror, and unfortunately isn’t a psychopathic car in pursuit.
