I’m in middle school and had to read this book. I don’t know why this book was chosen. It’s about a boy who is legally blind and doesn’t even remember why. His brother is nothing but violent and cruel. Like, everybody has a reason for being mean but Erik literally doesn’t. And near the end they were talking about not giving him drugs which makes me think he was mentally ill. But, if so, wouldn’t they have told Paul? Like, these parents are terrible. Worse than Matilda’s. The ending is terrible, and there’s just no good message. It’s so slow and boring…my teacher acts like it’s a wonderful book with lots of suspense - but it felt predictable. One of the friends is RASICT. The book does NOT make sense either. Everything felt out of place. The topics are stupid and random altogether. The subtopics were just added and didn’t contribute whatsoever to the actual plot. They were basically just there and filled up a few pages and there were a lot of them so it took a while for us to finally know what everything was even about. I couldn’t even bring myself to read it. (And I like most books)
-thanks for reading this!
