Just finished watching the movie 37 seconds.
It is a Japanese movie directed by Hikari and starring Mei Kayama, who plays the role of Yuma, a 23-year-old woman with cerebral palsy. She is a manga artist and works for____ as her assistant.
best lines-
"It was 37 seconds. That's how long I didn't breathe after I was born. If I'd been born first, Yuka(her twin sister) might have ended up like me. If I'd started breathing even one second sooner, maybe I'd be like her. I'd be free just like her. But... I'm glad it was me."
most beautiful moment-
The way Toshi looks at Yuma while she looks out of the train window, fascinated by the scenery, made me feel something(I don't know what it is, but I did feel something). His eyes are soft and full of love...' love'... not necessarily the romantic type, but different. As if he is
inspired by her, proud of her, and somewhere sympathises with her.
He(Toshi) doesn't really talk much in the film, doesn't ask any questions. He just listens to anything Yuma has to say. His presence in itself is comforting, with a hint of assurance that whispers 'no matter what, I will be there with you' or like 'if that's what you want'.
For instance, when Yuma is out at night without any means to find a place to stay, he offers to take her to his place, or when she tells him that she wants to meet her father, or when she learns that her twin sister, Yuka, is in Thailand. In all those instances, Toshi tagged
along with her, helped her find closure about her family, without asking any further questions.
