This is the vicious, ultra-violent film that Raimi and Co. were going for in the first film in the series, but simply lacked the budget and technology. The originals will never lose their status as classics, but the fact that Raimi, Campbell and Tapert produced this, shows that it wasn't originally all about the slapstick. This is a movie that makes me squirm every time I watch it. A modern classic!!!
