The songs are good albeit with a slowed down mood. The soundtrack of a sad drama. (Totally appropriate in 2020)
It's a deviation from her pop hits of recent years and a gentle nod to the crooning songs of earlier in her career. A little Teardrops on My Guitar feel meets the somber sound of Back to December and is flavored with a hint of Out of the Woods. A few lyrics sound familiar (green is the color...) but it comes together as something entirely new. Easy listening, good for a rainy day or when you just feel a nameless longing tugging on the heart strings. This is Taylor's parallel to Gaga's Joanne.
