‘Final Recking’ more like. Muddled, oddly slow moving overall and so self conscious it made uncomfortable viewing far too often. “The end is nigh…!” that sort of thing throughout. What a shame - it felt like the story had run out of steam (pun intended) after the amazing part 1 - and had nothing interesting, compelling or genuinely exciting left to say or show. Much much more of a whimper than a bang in the end I'm afraid. Nowhere near the thrills you'd expect from a Tom Cruise blockbuster - very surprisingly. To keep up that kind of quality level perhaps really was a Mission Impossible in the end. (sorry)

Always been a massive Superman fan - since childhood from the comics to Christopher Reeve as the caped hero -and I liked Brandon Routh’s interpretation which felt very natural - however Superman Returns ultimately fell a little short in places. However following Snyder’s wooden, violent and CGI heavy take - I had fallen out of love somewhat with how this classic superhero has been portrayed. I was therefore looking forward to a more traditional and perhaps old fashioned incarnation of the world’s most popular superhero. Unfortunately Superman 2025 is a catastrophic muddle - with a spattering of try hard weird and mediocre add on supers to I guess, make it all more interesting (?) - but these are characterised by a really bad haircut, gum chewing, a shrieking winged hawklike female and an obvious stereotypical black ‘techie’ hero. Krypto the dog was quite cute to begin with - really irritating by the end - Lois Lane was annoying from the get go - whilst Lex Luther was ‘okay’. David Corenswet’s performance is overall a good one as Superman but some of the scripting is excruciatingly one dimensional - with some acting actually cringey. The story is sprawling whilst lacking any substance and I never really cared about anyone or anything at any point. To top it all off - the end introduces Supergirl as a drunk (yes that’s right, drunk) sassy upstart who exits the scene referring to Krypto the superdog with : “ thanks for watching him for me..bitch!” at Superman. I think it was meant to be humorous and “sassy” but is just really obnoxious. I just cannot understand how many people have managed to get this amazing story and hero wrong so many times…?!? Perhaps revisit Mario Puzo’s interpretation for pointers and go from there…? Super-bad
