The Sky Inside by Clare B. Dunkle is hands down the absolute worst book I have ever read in my life. Now I’m not one to read for fun but I have read a good amount of books. I actually enjoy some of them. Even the dystopian kind like Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix was pretty good and well written. This book, however, not so much. My mom spent close $15 on this terrible book. Total waste of money and here's why.
The problem is I have no freaking clue what the heck is going on in this book. The way the author describes things is very confusing and is supposed to be for teens. I personally think I’m pretty smart so I understand most books that are meant for teens. I don’t know what the author's approach was but it was very hard to understand and I’m very confused.
Also, what is the plot? I read the description to this book and it sounded really interesting but when I was listening to the book I feel like it had nothing to do with the description. I wish the book was more like the description… It's good that the author gave a good description but the book should live up to that.
The last thing I’m going to say is that the book is just plain boring. I kid you not, I fell asleep while listening to it. I have restarted the book 5 + times and oh my lord it is sooooo boring. I have never hated a book as much as I hate this one. No shade to the author because she is definitely a better writer than me but I’m just giving my honest opinion so you guys can think before you buy. Thanks for reading this :)
