Lyra Marvella Viola

This is a weird movie. The cast are well known: A- listers like Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Angarano and the lead Gina Carano. The director is Soderbergh. The beginning was action- packed with some twists in the plot. It just seemed like the director suddenly changed style midway, or he got bored. There was something wonky with the sound recording/sounds and probably the acting of the lead (I'm not sure). It made it feel like a B- movie which is such a shame.

I enjoyed this series so much. The title I felt was cheesy so it initially made me think twice about watching it. But I like Catholic lores. Knowing that it's about warrior nuns? I was sold! The MC was pleasing to look at, and acted well, too. She was initially so annoying but it's understandable because of what she's been through. Still annoying though :D I just wanted to go to the part where she grew into the character- but it's still worth the wait. The reason I persevered mostly were: Sr. Beatrice, and Shotgun Mary. Man. I will cry if anyone of them gets killed. And also Camilla, she's so pure! SPOILER: I predicted that Lilith will turn out to be one of the good guys- there was an expression on her face when she and Badass Mary were trying to get to Ava, that's when I knew she'd turn out true in the future. I wasn't dissuaded even though she seemed like she turned evil. It's just weird how she was named Lilith by her parents what with their family history with the church. I started liking Ava's character-- SPOILER--- when she went to Jillian. When she said she wants to get some answers- she wasn't kidding. I loved that. Exploring the science and religion. Keeping an open mind. Asking tough questions. I also loved that Mary told Ava straight: the good, the bad and the ugly re: Catholic Church. I loved it that Shotgun Mary also caught Ava about to stride inside the Cat's Cradle. Ava grew up so much then. Oh and I loved how Sr. Beatrice answered the Cardinal during their conversation: How she was loyal to God (and not the church, which was what the Cardinal obviously wanted- he was destroyed hahaha! I soooo lovvveeee that.) Oh I love Sr. Beatrice so much. She also looks like my cousin who's a nun in real life. So, double the like!!!! Anyway! I really love this show. The women at the end were so awesome omg. I think the cliffhanger was expected. I didn't feel badly about it- I write cliff- hangers a lot myself so I guess I kinda predicted there'd be something like that in the end. Oh and another one- as a photography enthusiast- the cinematography was gorgeous!

This is the second time I'm enamored at an anime series. I love that the main protagonist has reached the pinnacle of strength, invulnerability and speed. He simply wins all fights and most of them with just one punch hence the title. However, instead of being happy, Saitama, the one punch man, is bored. He can't discern how strong his monster opponents were coz most of them were killed by miniscule effort from him. There were no more things for him to learn and strive for, according to him, because he always wins. He is like a Superman without a kryptonite (except his baldness, and shopping- you never want to get between him and a Saturday Sale). Some might consider his poor memory a weakness, but for me it's sometimes a plus. Then he met Genos, a young cyborg on the pursuit of a villain who had done him wrong. Genos is the opposite of Saitama. Whereas Saitama is at the peak of all creations and is stagnating, Genos is constantly trying to improve himself. He takes himself very seriously while Saitama most of the time couldn't care less. Anyway, I could go on and on about this show. I love it so much! The story is like an anthropological study of a culture where someone like Saitama (other super heroes and monsters) exists. How people perceived events and other people. It may be set in a fantastical setting but the psychology of people were written in a plausible way. This was also the reason why I enjoy watching violent sports esp with my fave fighters. When Saitama fought the King of the seafolk in front of so many people, people's perception were still influenced by other factors other than what they really see. In RL, I would compare it to fighters winning against bigger opponents. If there's an upset, people will rationalise so many things why it happened etc. Etc. Not giving due to the fighters involved in the fight itself. Okay, anyway, I've gone off tangent. I really enjoy this show especially in S2 when we meet King and the others. I love how the writer wrote this show. I really like it. Kudos to the writer ONE and amazing art to Yusuke Murata and to the animators! <3 <3 <3 I cant wait for season 3! My other fave heroes are Tatsumake and Child Emperor. They will be featured in the upcoming season (I hope!). If you like action and comedy this show is for you!
