A once in a lifetime album. Queens of the Stone Age’s Songs for the Deaf is a bunch of dudes who just love rock music making a badass rock album. Front to back it’s one of the most engaging albums in all of rock. Even with three different singers on this album, Josh Homme, Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri manage to not crowd the album, even letting the music itself breathe with some fantastic production. Speaking of production, this album is impossible to talk about without bringing up Dave Grohl’s punchy and grounded drumming, it’s truly the glue of this album, making every track go from a smack in the face to an uppercut on the jaw. Everything here just works. I’d give it six stars but 1.) I can’t do that and 2.) the songs themselves sound so good I actually have no idea what the lyrics are. I was too busy rocking out to notice. Do your self a favor and do the same

An Essential album from the golden age of grunge and a real game changer in rock history. If you’re a fan of rock, grunge, punk, alternative rock, or metal, this album is something you should be embarrassed to say you haven’t listened to. From Kurt’s song writing, guitar solos, infectious riffs and iconic voice to the wonderfully expressive bass playing of Krist Novaselic to the absolutely perfect drumming of a young Dave Grohl, this album can only be described as Nirvana’s Nevermind. A true timeless masterpiece
