I saw Terri J Vaughn, her husband and Jade Novah, as well as the mom from Family Matters. These components made me give it a try. Reluctantly. But, omg. Although there are moments where Jade and the grandma are funny, it doesn’t make up for the confederate flags in each and every episode, the calling a black woman “girl,” “young lady,” “hun,” and so on. I said to myself that I wouldn’t watch another episode if the main character didn’t change the damn decor in the house that she and her children now occupy. Sure enough, the confederate flags (pillows, rugs, wall art) continue from episode to episode. It’s insane!! I was uncomfortable watching the show given the continued disrespect of Terri’s character, and the blatant racism and sexism from the governor. It was wild. Just too much. I tried, but hell naw. This show is so offensive and ridiculous. I’m sure all of the main characters were paid handsomely for their roles and it was a great opportunity to be top of show, but my goodness. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Have mercy.
