I was disappointed. The cinematography was amazing, the scenes looked like the paintings we have of Napoleon, for example him in the snow before Austerlitz, and the lavish coronation. However, I found the film to be bitty, there wasn't enough cohesion. But, the he main flaw is that the battle scenes completely lacked passion. I wanted to be roused into being behind the French as they went into battle, as his men must have been, but was feeling apathetic as to whether they won or lost. That said, the final battle scene was great. And Trafalgar was not even mentioned!
The love story between Napoleon and Josephine is what carries the film and the performance of both protagonists. I'm glad I've seen it,but I don't think I'd watch it again, even if it's on TV.
