Where do I start? This is an awful, mind numbingly boring film that relies on famous faces to get people to watch it. From the outset it seems that the message of this film is "we are women hear us moan" the Barbies all have perfect lives where they are showered with compliments and accolades all day long, they have everything they could ever desire but Margot Robbie's Character is still not happy. Men are depicted as superfluous total morons who are only interested in either power or sexual harassment. Characters are introduced in this film who bring nothing to the actual "storyline" but instead seem to purely be there to support the narrative that woman are amazing while men are bumbling muppets who can't figure out how to use a light switch without a woman's help. One thing that really annoyed me was the stereotypical depiction of the Construction workers making suggestive comments to Barbie while Ken stands there like a gormless man sack and does nothing, firstly I worked Construction for many years and I never once behaved like this, secondly if I were out with my "girlfriend " and someone acted this way toward her I would not stand for it, but Ken is depicted as vacant and weak. Visually the Movie looks stunning it's such a shame the same effort wasn't put into the story. I am all for strong female lead characters but I am not happy with the current trend of Man bashing that seems to be overtaking Hollywood recently, If I were to make a Movie today that bashed women in the same way ths does Men it would be protested against, I would be a pig and a chauvinist.
