[Spoilers] Honestly, yes, what happened to Joel horrified me. I came into the game fairly sure his death was a strong possibility, but it was not something I expected to happen so quickly, or brutally from an unestablished character I actually had control of for a few scenes... Still, even after that shock, I really love this game. The graphics are obviously amazing, the game physics of things like the snow are so incredibly realistic I adore it, and I found myself more than once just stopping to stare around at the gorgeous lighting and reflective surfaces. It is definitely a very, very pretty game. Anywhere who came in looking for a grand open world I’d say didn’t play the first game, let alone any other Naughty Dog game. Their games are more one the linear side so I was actually surprised to get some bigger open exploration, i really enjoyed that. As for the story, I know it’s getting slammed pretty hard for being so different’ from the first game but.. I honestly think this was a great continuation. The past decision catching up to them, and the cycle of hate and revenge passing from Abby to Ellie. It’s darker than the first game, but this is an apocalyptic world. Things don’t always have a happy ending. You can’t always get there in time, save everyone. I think it was still perfectly cannon to the world they established before, any I’m happily starting my second run of the game now. 5/5 For sure.
