DAV was so much fun to play. It deserves a longer more detailed review that Iโm still working on, but the tl;dr: this is already such a cherished addition and a needed refresh for the series. This was the most fun gameplay - a good bit inspired by DA2 and other games, and the storytelling/chapter closing was impactful. While it couldnโt pack absolutely everything a series this big and old has amassed in lore and multiple world states, it does an excellent job closing the chapter of Solas and answering some of the main (but not all) questions fans have been theorizing and asking for years. The combat and skill tree was a ton of fun, and I was totally invested in my companions. The quests were relevant and over time I understood what the devs meant by โhighly curatedโ and no fetch quests.
If you go to play this game, Iโd simply ask to go in open minded - one of the biggest themes in the game is being stuck in the past (stuck in regret or loss or grief), and I think a lot of folks would actually enjoy the game for what it is if they let some things go.
