After watching the entire season in two days, it all feels flat, neither here, nor there. No idea where all this is going to and what's the point of it.
Some raunchy comedy, which is both rare in the series, as well as not so great, and badly executed (Japanese Mr. Pickles jumping to light the Christmas Tree is like something from 'Dude, where's my car'), mixed in with a dramatic look at some dysfunctional characters' lives from where this humour is supposed to be sucked out from. That's the series.
I think it is supposed to show a character who is too good and giving to all, even though some hurt him obviously and openly. He doesn't seem to be getting anything back most of the time, but his actions have consequences on a wider world, or whatever. It all makes very little sense.
There has to be a second season, or none of what i watched will mean anything. If it is supposed to just go on like this with no particular outcome, going back and forth with the 'story', using family dysfunction and social morals as the basis for ad-hoc jokes and sketches - it's rubbish.
If season 2 somehow manages to get some meaning, or message through and tie up some loose ends, maybe it will be above average. Currently it's just flat.
